Piano Lessons
Piano Lessons
Hi everyone!
Welcome to the wonderful world of music and the benefits that learning an instrument such as the piano provide. I am enthusiastic about teaching and learning and believe in the following points:

-
Learning should be fun
-
Learning is lifelong - you never stop learning
-
A balanced repertoire produces well rounded players
-
The teacher is a facilitator of learning rather than just a disseminator of knowledge
-
Learning goals assist progress
-
A regular practice routine of skills learned at lessons is an enabler of progress
-
Shared responsibility of learning maximises success
-
Positive self-esteem is at the core of all learning
-
Musical possibilities are endless so aspirations need to be nurtured and supported
-
A growth mindset is essential - the concept of 'yet' is powerful - 'I can't do it' can be rephrased as 'I can't do it yet'
-
There is no 'one size fits all'

Beginner Students
Beginner student programs are specifically tailored to individual needs. Usually, I like to use a tutor program such as Bastien or Alfreds while supplementing with appropriate music as required.
Non-beginner Students
Students who have previously learned the piano are also welcome with tailored programs depending on previous background. I am happy to work with material you have already purchased and then branch out as required. Working towards an exam can also be an excellent challenge for students. I have been using AMEB and ANZCA Examinations Boards for these for many years but I am also adaptable to other systems if needed such as ABRSM, Trinity College, Royal Schools etc.
Intermediate/Advanced Students
Intermediate and advanced students are very welcome to join my studio. I have worked with both classical and jazz focused students as well as those working towards ATAR music and university auditions. Working towards an exam can also be an excellent challenge for students. I have been using AMEB and ANZCA Examinations Boards for these for many years but I am also adaptable to other systems if needed such as ABRSM, Trinity College, Royal Schools etc. Feel free to discuss your needs with me.
